Abstract

Rod mill is vital equipment in industries viz. mineral dressing, ore processing, fertilizers, food and diary, pharmaceuticals and many others. The present work involves an experimental study of the effect of the various parameters studied in this work are rods size, grinding time and ground angle on fine grinding mass specific energy consumption of fine grinding and the product fineness of limestone powder was studied experimentally using a pilot scale rod mill. The product particle size distribution and mass specific energy consumption were determined with respect to the above variables. Finally, the optimum condition for the grinding of the limestone with rod mill was obtained. The results from this study showed that the ground angle are the most important parameters rather than rods size and grinding time in terms of mass specific energy consumption.
