Abstract
Urban green spaces play a crucial role in maintaining biodiversity and providing ecosystem services in rapidly urbanizing environments. This study evaluates the floral diversity within selected urban parks in Cape Town, South Africa, using a combination of field surveys and remote sensing techniques. The research aims to identify the key plant species contributing to ecological resilience and to assess the impact of urbanization on native plant communities. Findings indicate a diverse range of species, with several endemic to the region, highlighting the importance of urban parks in conserving local biodiversity. Recommendations for enhancing biodiversity through strategic plantings and habitat restoration are discussed.
