Abstract

Urbanization is one of the major threats to plant biodiversity, leading to habitat fragmentation and alteration of local ecosystems. This study examines the effects of urban expansion on plant species diversity in metropolitan areas. We conducted field surveys in various urban habitats, including parks, green roofs, and roadside verges, across different cities. The results indicate a significant reduction in native plant species, with an increase in non-native species in heavily urbanized regions. Conservation strategies are discussed to mitigate the impact of urban development on plant biodiversity.
