Abstract
This study investigates the effects of urban expansion on the diversity of native plant species within tropical ecosystems. Utilizing data collected from urban and peri-urban areas in Southeast Asia, the research highlights significant declines in plant diversity associated with increased urbanization. The study employs remote sensing and GIS technologies to map urban growth and its impacts on surrounding natural habitats. Findings suggest that the preservation of green spaces and the integration of biodiversity considerations into urban planning are crucial for the conservation of native flora.
