Abstract
Purpose: Plodia interpunctella attack the major grain around the word. The present experiments were carried out to show efficacy four botanical volatile oils (namely: Cinnamonium zeylanicum L., Syzygium aromaticum L., Ocimum basilicum L., Pelargonium graveolens L.) and two commercial terpiene (Geraniol and α-Pinene ) fumes toward different stages of Indian meal- moth. \nResearch methods: the data was obtained from experiments were carried out under laboratory condition. The tests was done to evaluate four botanical volatile oils and two commercial terpiene fumes toward different stages of Indian meal moth. the experiments were divided to choice and non choice one to know affect of tested oils fumes in control different indean meal moths stages.\nFindings: The results were cleared that fumes of C. zeylanicum, Geraniol and S.aromaticum caused the highest restriction to number of eggs hatching. Three of tested oils (cinnamon, Geraniol and α-Pinene) were elucidated repellent reaction toward 1st instars larvae while remaining tested oils were recorded attractant response. On other hand, exposure 1st larval instar to fumes of cinamon, clove and geraniol were caused the highest mortality percent and depression growth index to zero value compare to control. while Exposure the last larval instars to tested oils fumes were elicited less mortality percent but the oil effect on their growth and caused increase pupal malformation and disturbance in sex ratio. on other side, all of tested oils fumes caused highly significant reduction in fecundity of female compare to control. \nOriginality/Value: this study was confirmed that there are other natural materials (which more safe and effective in control insects) can be used as alternative components to avoid or lesser use synthetic insecticide.
